Aspen Highlands Closing Day 2023: The Aspen Skiing Company chose to make the ski season last longer at Aspen Mountain and Aspen Highlands. As planned, Ajax will now be closed on April 16 instead. It will now be open until April 23. Also, Highlands will not close on April 9 like other stores did; it will stay open until April 16 instead. It’s still set to close on April 16, even though Buttermilk will close on April 2.
A news release says that Snowmass and Highlands have already gotten over 300 inches of snow this season, which is about the same amount of snow that these places normally get. The Aspen Snowmass app says that the base at Highlands is 82 inches, and the base at Snowmass is 80 inches. Ajax still uses a 53-inch base, but Buttermilk says it has a 46-inch base.
Katie Ertl, SkiCo’s senior vice president of mountain operations, said in a news release that the 2022–2023 ski season “has been one of the best winters for consistent snow that we’ve seen in recent history.”

Aspen Mountain Terrain Expansion: Hero’s
This winter, Aspen Snowmass will add a new high-speed quad chairlift and make Aspen Mountain bigger. This will be a turning point in the history of the resort. As a result of this project, more than 20% more land will be skiable at Aspen Mountain, making the experience better for everyone who likes winter sports.
This is the biggest addition to Aspen Mountain since the Silver Queen Gondola opened in 1985. It has a 1,220-foot drop and more than 150 acres of new chutes, glades, and trails. The new terrain and lift, which have been named “Heroes,” honor the people whose hard work and wisdom have helped shape Aspen Mountain’s past. The most important of these is Jim Crown, whose unwavering guidance has been key to the success of this huge project.

2024 Stifel Aspen Winternational
The last race of the US Audi FIS Ski World Cup circuit is coming up soon. Aspen Snowmass is excited to say that it will hold the men’s technical events of the 2024 Stifel Aspen Winternational from March 1–3, 2024. At this important event, racers from around the world will fight in slalom and giant slalom on Aspen Mountain’s difficult terrain.
Along with the exciting competitions, Aspen Snowmass will be the major place for ceremonies, activities, and fan gatherings, which are all important parts of the International event. Fans and players will both have a great day as they take in the event’s energy and sense of community.
Almost 100 World Cup races for men and women have been held in Aspen Snowmass. The thrilling Stifel America’s DownhillTM races from the previous season and the prestigious World Cup Finals in 2017 were two events that stood out.
Aspen Highlands Closing Party
I had a great time at my first Highlands event this year, the Closing Party. I had heard many stories about its famous parties in the past, and I couldn’t wait to be a part of the fun myself. On the day of the party, Sunday, April 13, it rained in Aspen. At first, my friends and I were curious if it was worth going out in the bad weather. They made it clear that I could not miss the event, so I chose to go ahead and participate, and I’m glad I did.
As I walked to Highlands’ base that morning, the rolling beats of the music sent chills down my spine. There was a thrill in the air. I had to go down the hill a few more times because it was the last day. As I rode the Exhibition lift, the loud noises from the Cloud 9 restaurant made me feel even more excited. That turned out to be our first stop.
When we got to Cloud 9, there was a fierce DJ performance, a rainbow of costumes, and brave skiers and snowboarders showing off their skills on a jump next to the restaurant’s deck. As I danced among the snowflakes, the event had a mood that made everyone feel good. The fun at Cloud 9 was over, though. It was time to figure out how to get down the mountain and join the party at the bottom.
Aspen Announces Opening Day
In Aspen, Colorado, Aspen Mountain and Snowmass will open for the 2023–24 season on November 23, as planned. Here’s what you need to know. Following the practice of opening on Thanksgiving, skiers can look forward to thrilling experiences on the upper slopes of Aspen Mountain and in Elk Camp Meadows at Snowmass.
Skiers can upload and download on 41 acres of beautiful slopes at Aspen Mountain. The Silver Queen Gondola runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and skiers can get to the mountain. People can post files until 3:30 p.m. and download files until 4:00 p.m. Popular open runs like Dipsy Doodle, Silver Bell, Deer Park, and Tortilla Flats will be easy to get to with the Ajax Express chair.
In the meantime, Snowmass will open 16 acres of new slopes in the Elk Camp Meadows area, which is great for beginners. From 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., the Elk Camp Gondola will be open for uploads and downloads. The last download is set for 4:00 p.m. The Magic Carpet, the Sky Cab, and the Meadows chairs will also work. You can get to the mountain’s facilities early because the Sky Cab lift starts running at 8 a.m.

When was Aspen Highlands open?

Aspen Highlands mountain opened in 1958 and was independently owned by Whipple Van Ness “Whip” Jones. The mountain opened with a rope tow, t-bar lift, and both the Thunderbowl and Exhibition lifts. Cloud Nine lift and restaurant were opened in 1962.

Who owns Aspen Highlands?
