Game of the Year – Best of 2011 Guide
The line-up for the 2011 Game of the Year is long, varied, and strong. But this year, the game stood out differently than Portal 2 did. It put my skills to the test and made an impact that will last. Valve did a great job of explaining the story and mythology of Aperture Science while also adding new, interesting characters and cutting-edge gameplay.
It was truly amazing how Stephen Merchant played Wheatley, and Ellen McLain’s performance as GLaDOS was even better the second time around. Both of them raised the bar for video game writing and voice acting. It was great to learn about Aperture’s past through the eyes of Cave Johnson and play with new features like Excursion Funnels, Hard Light Bridges, Redirection Cubes, and the game-changing Propulsion, Repulsion, and Conversion gels.
The world-class multiplayer co-op story in Portal 2 with the cute robot test subjects Atlas and P-Body makes it a must-play that keeps players completely enthralled.

Game of the Year Awards 2011
A lot of great games came out in 2011, like Deus Ex, Forza 4, and Skyrim. This will make 2011 an important year in the gaming business. New and well-known brands both left their mark on the business, and some old favorites came back to life in a big way.
Fans finally got their hands on Duke Nukem Forever, which they hadn’t been expecting. P.C. gamers were also thrilled to be able to play not one but two Assassin’s Creed games in a single year.
Casual and mobile games became a lot more popular, thanks in large part to hit games like Angry Birds. Worse, services that have been around for a long time, like Call of Duty Elite, pushed the limits of online groups. Steam worked perfectly on the PlayStation 3, which opens up exciting futures for the system. At the same time, E.A.’s Origin service caused a stir when it became required for all upcoming P.C. games, going up against Valve’s service directly.
Nintendo’s Wii U came out in the same year, which made it more likely that Sony and Microsoft would have to update their devices sooner than planned. Microsoft kept focusing on Kinect, while Sony was busy getting ready to release the PlayStation Vita compact.
There were some bad things about the year, though. The PlayStation Network outage showed that the game community needed to do a better job of keeping user information safe. Some companies, like Bizarre Creations, Kaos Companies, and Team Bondi, failed because they couldn’t make enough money. Because of this, some game lines, like Guitar Hero, did poorly. Fans were especially upset that neither Half-Life 3 nor Diablo 3 would come out in 2012.

The first gaming awards were held in 2014. They are put together and hosted by gaming writer Geoff Keighley, who worked for almost ten years on the Spike Video Game Awards. Keighley worked with a number of video game companies and got permission from Spike to make the show. The Game Awards does more than give awards for achievements. They also show off new games and give new information about games that have already been mentioned. Some viewers liked the show’s announcements, while others didn’t like how it ignored some events, used promotional material, and dealt with award winners.
The event takes place at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. T.V. networks have offered to show the show, but Keighley has always turned them down. A committee of leaders from big game companies like Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo is in charge of the Game Awards. This committee picks the thirty video game press organizations that can nominate and vote in the show’s categories, but the committee itself does not vote.

Nominees for most categories of The Game Awards are chosen by an international jury of over 100 global media and influencer outlets, selected for their history of critical video game evaluation. Specialized juries also convene for other categories including esports, accessibility and best adaptation.
The Game Awards have a strict nomination process and an international jury made up of more than 100 well-known media and influencer outlets from around the world who have a lot of experience reviewing video games. Specialized juries are set up for areas like best adaptation, e-sports, and accessibility.
Each voting outlet gives voters an unranked ballot with the five best candidates in each category, as chosen by the editorial staff of that outlet. As nominees, the five games that show up on the ballot are most often made public. If there is a tie, six or more nominees for a single category may be made public.
It’s important to note that Geoff Keighley, who produces The Game Awards, stays objective by not being on the jury and not voting for candidates or winners. Along with the public, the Game Awards Advisory Board does not take part in the awarding process. The results are made public at the same time.
